Skipping Practice

We all know that (perfect) practice makes for perfect presentations. But most only prepare like that for Live Face-to-Face events. A webinar is no different in terms of the amount of practice time you need to put in to create a compelling Webinar. You may even need to have your speakers prepare a little more to make sure they can utilize the technology properly and get the most out of this medium. Make sure your speakers practice, and make sure you practice all of the tips and tricks that we have taught you to create a successful event.

Under Prepared for the “Oooops” Moment

The “oops” moment can happen at any time, and rears its ugly head in many different forms: phone dies, computer locks up, Internet goes down, interruptions (human or technological) and the list can go on. What you need to make sure of is that you and your speaker are prepared. This includes, but not limited to:

  • Print out a hard copy of your slides
  • Keep room temperature water handy
  • Place Do Not Disturb sign on your door
  • Silence all cell phones
  • Disable call waiting, if applicable
  • Speak clearly with good volume
  • Mute your phone when not talking

If you prepare properly, you will be able to take any of these “oops” moments and break them down into small disruptions, not webinar collapsing/rescheduling events.

Following Up Promptly

After your webinar has completed, make sure you follow up with your participants in a timely manner. Whether it is to thank them for participating, asking for/sending more information or following up to their specific questions from the event…make sure you do so quickly. You need to contact them while it is still fresh in their minds. Everyone has 15 different things demanding their attention at any given point in the day, make sure that you and your organization stand out by conducting your Webinars in a professional manner.
